ABB's integrated CCUS analyzer unifies three gas measurement technologies, AI diagnostics, and digital twin capability in one modular unit
24 Feb 2026

ABB has released its first fully integrated gas analyzer package designed specifically for carbon capture, utilisation, and storage operations, combining three measurement instruments into a single modular unit for real-time monitoring of CO₂ purity across the capture, compression, transport, and storage chain.
The February 2026 release brings together the Sensi+ CCUS laser gas analyzer, the GCP100 process gas chromatograph, and the ACF5000 CCUS FTIR system. Each instrument targets a different category of trace contaminants. Even minor variations in CO₂ purity can cause pipeline corrosion, affect gas compressibility, or trigger disconnection from transport networks, each carrying financial penalties for operators. Consolidating the instruments into a pre-configured unit is intended to reduce procurement complexity and engineering lead times for developers in cement, LNG, oil refining, and power generation.
The package is supported by AI-driven device health diagnostics and cloud-hosted condition monitoring, enabling predictive maintenance. It also connects with ABB's CCS 360 platform, which uses digital twin technology to allow operators to simulate and optimise carbon capture networks ahead of and during operation.
The launch carries particular relevance for Australia, where between 18 and 27 CCS projects are currently in development or operation. The Australian government has opened the second round of its Carbon Capture Technologies Programme, making A$32.6 million available for pilot and demonstration projects in hard-to-abate sectors.
As CCUS networks expand and face tighter regulatory requirements, the sector's ability to manage multi-source CO₂ transport systems at scale remains an open question. Whether integrated digital measurement tools prove sufficient to close the gap between pilot projects and full commercial viability is yet to be established.
